COVID-19 Recovery Program

Most people who become infected return to normal health. However, there is still much to learn about the possible long-term health effects and why some people have symptoms that last well after their initial diagnosis. Common lingering symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, cough, joint and chest pain as well as body aches. Lack of clear thinking known as “brain fog,” headaches, fever, heart palpitations, loss of taste and/or smell, rash and hair loss have also been described.

There is still much to learn about “Long COVID-19,” now called post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV2 infection, or PACS. And, researchers publish new findings frequently. Our team stays up-to-date on the latest studies and works closely together across medical specialties to diagnose underlying reasons causing your symptoms. Because we are healthcare system, you will have access to all the diagnostic testing you may need, including blood, imaging, pulmonary and more. We assess if you are at risk for developing more advanced complications and create a treatment and rehabilitation plan to improve your quality of life.

Because of the complexity of symptoms that can affect many organs and body systems, you may need to see one or more specialists. We provide an initial assessment to determine what referrals are needed all while coordinating your care throughout your illness.

Because symptoms can change as often as daily, it may help to document all the symptoms you have had. You can categorize them by how often they occur and what symptoms have stopped. This helps both you and your doctor focus on triggers, appropriate tests and possible treatments. You can add to this list or edit it as time goes on. Because you may experience brain fog and memory issues, it may also help you to have your medical records, including bloodwork and imaging results, and a list of medications you’re taking. It’s always a good idea to bring a list of questions.

We know COVID-19 long-term symptoms are real and not imagined or due to stress. We also know with any new diagnosis and serious illness, you may develop anxiety, depression and even post-traumatic stress. Our program supports you through every aspect of your recovery, including emotional health, so you can find hope, relieve stress and focus on healing.

You must be 18 or older and have had a COVID-19 positive test result (PCR). You must be 12 weeks or longer from the onset of your first symptom. If you are not at least 12 weeks post-infection, please speak to your primary care provider or if you don’t have one, search for a provider close to you here. We can see people who were hospitalized and those who had a mild to moderate illness.
